Cultural Tours ( 10 Nights, 11 Days )
Day 01 Trivandrum and Kovalam
Arrive at Trivandrum. You will be received at the airport/station and transferred to Kovalam the beach resort of South India, enriched with greenery of coconut palms and laced with golden sands. On arrival you will be welcomed in a traditional way with a garland and aarti-tikka. Check into the hotel. Rest of the day you are free to relax on the beach. In the evening, dinner with traditional cuisine's and special dance performances could be organized on request. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02 Trivandrum and Kovalam
After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Trivandrum. This guided tour will take you to Padmanabhaswamy Temple & Attukal Temple, Vettucaud Church, Bimapally Mosque, the Horse Palace, the magnificent wooden palace constructed by the Travancore Maharajas now converted into a museum, Zoo, Sri Chitra Art Gallery and Napier museum. You can also visit the local market to see how the wide variety of vegetables, fruits, fishes and snacks are being sold. Also try to taste the different varieties of banana and remember to pick up an Aranmula Mirror, the unique metal mirror craft of Kerala which has no parallel in the world. Overnight stay at Kovalam.
Day 03 Kanyakumari
After breakfast, drive to Kanyakumari, en-route visit Padmanabhapuram Palace, the magnificent wooden palace constructed by the Maharajas of Travancore. Thereafter continue to Kanyakumari, the southern most tip of India. Proceed for sightseeing at the cape, which includes Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Gandhi Memorial, etc. Watch the sunset at Kanyakumari, a magnificent site. Return back to Kovalam and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 04 Varkala
Depart Kovalam for Varkala, a seaside resort and spa and an important pilgrimage centre for Hindus. The Papanasham Beach, 2000 year old Janardhanaswamy temple and the Nature Care Centre are the main attractions here. Evening relax at the beach and have dinner watching a light classical music performance. Overnight stay at Varkala.
Day 05 Alleppey
In the morning proceed to Alleppey, a district of immense natural beauty. Referred to as the Venice of the East by travellers from across the world. This backwater country is also home to diverse animal and bird life. With the Arabian Sea on the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers crisscrossing it and by virtue of its proximity to the sea, the town has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala. On arrival check into a traditional house boat. Cruise through the backwaters and stay overnight on the boat. Take a short break in between and walk through the beautiful, green paddy fields.
Day 06 Kumarakom
Wake up to the smell of the delicious breakfast made for you on board. After breakfast the house boat will drop you at a beautiful back water resort on the lake. Check into the resort, freshen up. Take a boat ride into the country side, visit the bird sanctuary. If you are adventurous you can participate in water sports such as wind sailing & water skiing. You can even take a country canoe out into the quiet lake. You could watch a Kalaripayattu performance (upon request). Overnight stay at the resort.
Day 07 Thekkady
In the morning, you can have an Ayurvedic massage at the resort. After breakfast, drive to Periyar(Thekkady), a scenic journey through the mist capped mountains, spice plantations and open grasslands lined with spectacular waterfalls and delightful trekking trails form the access to your hideaway here. On arrival, check into the hotel. In the evening you can go for a boat cruise to watch wild animals. Overnight stay at the resort.
Day 08 Munnar
Arrive at Cochin proceed to Munnar. Check in to the resort. Munnar is 5000 to 8000 ft above sea level, one of the prominent hill stations in India and the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India; Munnar has sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities. Munnar is home to Anamudi, the highest peak in South India, towering over 2695 m. Among the exotic flora found here is the Neelakurinji, which bathes the hills in blue every 12 years. Check into the hotel, freshen up. Proceed for sightseeing to Devikulam & Rajamalai. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 09 Munnar
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing which includes Devikulam & Rajamalai, Eravikulam National Park, Anamudi, Mattupetty Dam etc. After lunch depart for a tea plantation visit in Pothamedu. Pothamedu offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the cool mountain and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. In the evening take a walk through the tea plantations spread on a wide area. Later proceed to Cochin. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 10 Cochin
After breakfast, proceed for city tour covering Jewish Synagogue and Jew Town - where you can collect antique. St Francis Church, originally built out of wood in 1503 and thus earning fame as the oldest European Church in India (Vasco de Gama was buried here). Dutch Palace-as you climb it's stone steps, you enter a different world of palanquins and heraldry, jewels and rich murals. Overnight stay at the hotel
Day 11 Departure
Transfer to Cochin Railway Station/Airport to connect Train/Flight for your return journey.
